Hi Eric, Bless your heart. I feel for you, really I do. This whole body image thing is tough for many of us, and it's not an easy thing to overcome. I am a large women (5'8", 235) who has come to accept her size. One of the turning points in my own struggle was reading a book called Overcoming Overeating, written by two therapists who recommend complete self-acceptance as well as eating in response to internal cues. I found their words highly inspirational and they came at a time when I was ready to say, no more dieting! I am going to eat what I want to eat, look great and feel great, too, at my natural size and not one I struggle to obtain to meet society's standard of beauty. One of the most calming and life affirming lessons learned from OO is that we can rely on our internal cues to tell us when we need to eat. I can recall feeling nearly euphoric when I realized that my body will take care of itself; I don't need to use my conscious mind to try and override internal cues; if I follow them I'll not only be OK, I'll feel terrific! And I do. By the way, I think Aspasia's post is right on target and bless HER heart for sharing. I wish you the best. Take good care. Jennifer
