It was bad enough when young girls compared themselves to models in fashion magazines, but now we have the "girl singers" with seductive bodies as role models.
Britney Spears always claimed that her breasts were natural. We all knew better, but now she has admitted to augmentation. She has most likely had other "things" done. How can a 9-year old girl have a realistic concept of her own body when Britney Spears is constantly exposing herself as a "natural body?" It is also difficult for boys/men because they buy into the "natural" thing. Boys, girls, men and women are constantly having these images flaunted in their face and pretty soon everyone is completely desensitize to what a "real" body is.
We can all admire shapely bodies and respect people who work-out and eat a moderate diet, but the illusion that all people can look like either Britney Spears or Antonio Sobato by using a little discipline is ludicrous!
What can we do? I feel helpless and I think most parents feel it is hopeless.
